At a graduation ceremony held at Kingston University in London, England, UK, on Thursday, 14 January 2010, Professor George Metaxas, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the Technological Education Institute of Piraeus, Piraeus-Athens in Greece (TEI-Piraeus) and an Honorary Member of the WIETE received his Honorary Doctor of Science degree from this University. 

The distinguished award comes as recognition of Prof. Metaxa’s special role in establishing a partnership and collaboration between TEI-Piraeus and Kingston University, which has led to a joint programme of Masters courses in technology offered to both Greek and UK students. It should be pointed out that Prof. Metaxas has had a distinguished career in civil engineering, with more than 35 years’ service to industry and academia.
